Tyson Fury has vowed to eliminate sex and masturbation in the days before his widely anticipated trilogy bout against American knockout artist Deontay Wilder.
The British fighter is set to defend his WBA world title this Saturday, but according to the man himself, the sex tap has firmly been turned off until he gets past his American opponent.
The two boxers are meeting for a third and presumably final time in Vegas this weekend, with the first fight ending in a controversial draw, before Fury brutally stopped Wilder to take the 35-year-old’s belt in February of last year.
After a nearly 18 month hiatus, some have questioned whether Fury has remained disciplined enough in the interim.
However, if the man himself is to be believed, he is entirely focused on the fight ahead.
When asked about his newly strict lifestyle, Fury told the Daily Mail, “That means no sex during the training camp.”.
“My trousers are staying zipped up here. The idea that no fighters have sex before a fight is a myth. But I don’t believe in it.
“I’m an old school fighter. I like to keep nice and strong. Keep all that pent up energy in the tank and then let all the aggression burst out on my opponent on fight night.”
With Fury’s wife, Paris, currently back in Morecambe recovering from the birth of the couple’s sixth child, the 33-year-old hasn’t had to worry too much about such amorous thoughts.
This new approach stands in stark contrast to the last time be fought Wilder, however.
The winner of Saturday’s trilogy fight is expected to have the opportunity to take on either Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua for all of the world title belts – that is once the pair fulfil their contractual rematch.
With such a reward on the horizon, Fury is adamant that he is taking Wilder as seriously as ever, despite winning with relative ease the last time the two giants met in Vegas.
“I’ve left nothing to chance against Wilder. Trained my guts out. People have been calling him a bum since I beat him but he is still my most dangerous fight with that punching power,” Fury claimed.
“And of all the fights I’ve ever had – even Wladimir Klitschko to win my world titles – this one is the one I want to win the most. This one.”
