Frenkie de Jong has dealt a huge blow to Manchester United as he reiterated his desire to STAY at Barcelona.
The Dutch midfielder remained at Barca and has played 34 games in all competitions this season as his side look to win the La Liga.
He made his 20th league start of the season on Sunday against Real Madrid and starred in the middle of the park, inspiring his side to a 2-1 win over their old rivals.
Speaking after the result, he was once again asked about a move to Man United, but the 25-year-old insists he sees his future in Spain with the Catalan giants.
Asked if he would join Man United in the summer transfer window, he replied: “No, I don’t think so. You never know of course. But I’m very happy in Barcelona.
“From the summer until now it has improved for me here. I play almost every game, it makes me feel so satisfied. I am a better player now than what I was when I signed for Barca.”
It’s believed Ten Hag is still interested in snapping up De Jong next summer. But his latest words on a potential switch to Man United doesn’t bode well for them.
The former Ajax player also made it clear that he wants to stay at Barca ahead of El Clasico. He said: “Hopefully I can play in the new Camp Nou. Barcelona has always been the club of my dreams and I want to stay here for many years. For me, the Camp Nou is the most beautiful stadium in the world. The plans for the stadium are very good.
“Playing in a Clasico is a very difficult feeling to explain. When I was a child, I dreamed of doing it with Barca and now I can do it. It’s a very important game for the fans and also for the players, a game that can decide a league.”
